Google is making a big push to boost YouTube usage in India and is in talks with direct-to-home cable providers to bring the service to televisions screens, said Francisco Varela, Google YouTube global director of Platform Partnership

According to WikiPedia, there is only 12.6% of individual using internet in 2012 and 56.5 million DTH subscribers registered till March 2013 (trai report). The figures shows that YouTube has big opportunity in India to target these huge audiences may not accessing youtube through internet.
Varela told to ET that “When we talk to direct-to-home providers or television makers or device makers, it’s so that you can watch YouTube on every screen you have, in a fully scalable way”
The major DTH providers in India are Airtel, Dish TV, Tata Sky, Videocon D2H, Reliance, Doordarshan and Sun TV. Now, who will be next Google YouTube partner for streaming YouTube to their subscribers screen is big secret.
This deal will definitely help YouTube to reach this large DTH subscriber base that may not use Internet or YouTube for entertainment.
