In fact since Talkwalker last reported numbers on January 30, there have been more than 1.7 million social posts in a three-day span, compared to 785,000 posts in the three days prior.
#FlyEaglesFly Number One Trending Hashtag; Pepsi Crushing Coke in Ad Wars
Overall for the past month, more than 10.6 million posts have referenced the Super Bowl. And who’s winning the hashtag war? The Philadelphia Eagles are holding on to their lead and Eagles fans hope these hashtag statistics translate to points on the field. In fact, the number one trending overall hashtag related to the Super Bowl over the past 30 days is #FlyEaglesFly, with 871,349 mentions, beating out even #SuperBowl, which had 608,260 mentions. Philly fans also have the third top trending hashtag, with #Eagles clocking in at 593,198 mentions.
Their opponents don’t show up on the list until number four, with #GoPats earning 422,412 mentions and #Patriots at number seven with 219,597. Ad Wars On: Amazon on Top
In the ad wars, more than 300,000 posts have referenced the top advertisers related to the Super Bowl over the past month and the pace is picking up, with 133,000 mentions just in the past seven days.
Over that week-long period, the top advertisers being mentioned are: Amazon (33.4K mentions), Pepsi (13.6K mentions) and making a huge move, with an increase of 427 percent, the joint ad being run by Mountain Dew and Doritos with a total of 11.4K mentions. Lexus comes in fourth with 10.4K mentions and Bud Light fifth with 8.8K.
Coke vs. Pepsi
In the classic ad war of Coke vs. Pepsi, right now Pepsi is winning in a landslide. Over the past week Pepsi owns 79.2 percent of the mentions vs. 20.8 percent for Coke and there are similar numbers for the past 30 days (78-22 in favor of Pepsi).
Is food really the main event?
Many social media users think so, as they are spending the week leading up to the Super Bowl posting about their favorite recipes and food. Food and beverage advertisers are getting in on the action too, with 9.5K mentions marked #ad / #spon / #sponsored
