Stephanie Del Valle from Puerto Rico won Miss World 2016 crown on Sunday beating the runners up from Dominican Republic and Indonesia. She won the top prize in 66th edition of the pageant held in United States.
Del Velle is only 19 years old brown eyed, brunette student who can also speak Spanish, English and French language and hoping to enter in entertainment industry soon. Stephanie was crowned by previous miss world 2015 Mireia Lalaguna from Spain who also said, “It’s an honor and great responsibility to represent her Caribbean homeland”. De Velle becomes the second person to win this title from the island. In 1975 Wilnelia Merced won this title from the island.
In 2016 edition of beauty pageant contestants from more than 100 countries took part in. Yaritza Miguelina Reyes Ramirez of the Dominican Republic became the first runner up this edition followed by Miss World Indonesia Natasha Mannuela.
In top 5 Miss Philippines Catriona Elisa Gray and Miss Kenya Evelyn Njambi also made it. Miss World was started in 1951 and Puerto Rico became the 17th country to have multiple winners. India won Miss World crown 5 times since it was started.
In this beauty pageant none of the UK representatives made it to top 20. India’s Priyadarshini Chatterjee also made it to top 20. Priyanka Chopra was the last India who won Miss World crown in 2000. Other Indian beauties who won this title earlier were Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997) and Yukta Mookhey (1999).
