The term 911 Targa was first introduced in 1966 and remains a trademark of Porsche AG. Targa top is a stylish semi-convertible car body with a removable roof section and a unique roll bar behind the seats. In 1989, the last Porsche 911 Targa was built which was a convertible model that didn’t require the driver to fumble. Targa mechanism also offers soft top and glass rear window. The process of closing and opening of window is also amazing and takes 19 seconds, when window flips open it make an angle that allow the soft top to slide past and roll up itself into a section behind the rear seats it is a point where window closes again.
In the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, Porsche again surprised us by launching new 911 Targa 4 and Targa 4S which are just like original Targa models. Targa model is a variation of 911. The two latest variants of Targa are visually looks like the shape of traditional 911 Targa. With the unique B-pillar design and the wrap around rear screen make them more sophisticated. The format of 911 Targa is really common for all the generations. The most amazing feature of Targa series includes open and close system of the roof segment which can be done easily by just pressing a button. This automatic mechanism enables the center section slide of the roof, to move back and stows itself behind the rear seats. Porsche keep their effort with these new Targa series also by providing two engines facility.
The new Porsche 911 Targa model has following features
- characteristic wide bar in place of B-pillars,
- above the front seats, a movable roof section will be available and
- a wraparound rear window without any C-pillar
These latest Porsche 911 Targa model has PTM all-wheel drive system with the rear-weighted design. This drive system is fitted as standard in the new Targa series. The new generation of Targa assures optimum driving dynamics under different weather conditions as well as road surfaces. The fully automatic roof system provides real spectacle. The dome shaped rear window offers unique look. Porsche keeps the sleek design of cars and maintain the utility with these new car series.
Specialty of Targa 4
Targa 4 of Porsche has some common features with the 911 Carrera 4 cabriolet models in terms of technology, components, and window line. 3.5 liter flat engine with 350 horsepower is available with Targa 4. This model will be available in two all wheel drive models with the double clutch gearbox. With the combination of Sports Chrono package, this car covers 0-100 km with the speed 282 km/h in 4.8 seconds only.
Specialty of Targa 4S
The booking of these new 911 Targa 4 and Targa 4S are opened but the exact prices for the cars are not yet declared by Porsche. The delivery of these cars may take place by May, 2014.
